‘Presenteeism’ accounts for 1.5 times as much working time lost as absenteeism and costs more to employers because it is more common among higher-paid staff.

“I attended a Mental Health First Aid course delivered by Sam and found him extremely personable and engaging. He came across as genuine and generous and he facilitated a very mixed group from varying personal and professional backgrounds. I took a lot away from the course and wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending him to colleagues and connections who would find his course content relevant.”

“Sam took the MHFA course in Leeds that I attended in early 2016. The course was very professionally planned and attendee friendly. However what made the course enjoyable and valuable was the way Sam handled the course, he made a tough subject easy to understand and cope with, which gave people and especially myself the confidence to discuss things fully in a relaxed and non-judgmental way. I hope our paths cross again in the future courses.”

“I attended a mental health first aid course presented by Sam. He made a complex subject accessible and interesting, his approach allows the training group to be comfortable in using their learning in practical application. Fantastic course by an inspirational trainer, I am pleased to recommend Sam as an MH trainer.”

“Sam was my trainer for a 2-day course on Mental First Aid. Sam knows his topic, and how to approach a subject that was at times challenging. Sam did this through his calm manner, his sensitivity to all participants, and his very cool selection of break-time music tracks. Workplaces and communities have a lot of physical health First Aiders. I really recommend adding the missing half by training yourself or others as a Mental Health First Aider.”
Project Coordinator at NHS England
“Having attended the Mental Health First Aid course with Sam, I have no reservations about recommending the course to others. Sam delivered the course material in a compassionate and tactful way. Although delivered at a professional standard, the 'down to earth' method of delivery put all participants at ease. The easy to remember guidance has already proved useful. A great course that I would highly recommend to those who work in an advisory capacity.”

“Hi Sam, I really appreciate your help. I have been struggling to find support with BDD, just fact sheets and peoples stories of success but have been told CBT is a good tool to use. Unfortunately a fortnight ago I was rushed to hospital with my anxiety (they initially thought I was having a heart attack). I have refused cbt several times as I didn't understand it but thanks to your course I now do and am working on an online therapy course (moodgym) which is really helpful. I am looking for other self-help tools to help alongside this. I have always found it embarrassing to admit I have anxiety and BDD so this is a big step for me. Your course really helped me and I can't thank you enough”
“Mental Health First Aid training from Samuel is engaging and enjoyable. He was able to answer all our questions and created a really safe and comfortable space where people could talk openly about some really sensitive subjects (only if they wanted to). I highly recommended this course for everyone, especially those who manage staff, to allow you to spot early signs and maybe even help them by making small adjustments that allow them to stay in work.”

“MHFA was never going to be an easy / uplifting course, however Sam Leigh broached the subject with compassion, yet he kept a positive attitude which engaged all participants throughout. I learnt a lot about the subject but also about myself and feel I can use what I have learnt and make a difference within my workplace. I would 100% recommend Sam Leigh to present this course to any type of business.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed this course. The content was insightful, pitched at the right level and Sam (with colleague Steve) presented the subject with tact and enthusiasm. I learned a lot and feel confident to recognise issues and to give MHFA. Such a valuable tool to have given the prevalence of mental ill health. I would highly recommend Sam as a trainer.”
